Seven months of Sasho

The story so far

Born on the 5th of March, 2027 — 3.980 kg, our biggest little surprise

March

Touchdown

Alexander arrived two days late and has been perfectly relaxed about deadlines ever since.

May

First giggle

Triggered by a sock puppet. The sock puppet now has a name and a permanent role in this family.

August

The roll

Back to front, front to back, and suddenly nowhere in the flat is safe. We're very proud and very tired.

October

His big day

Now our little cloud gets his name in front of everyone who loves him. Expect tears; bring tissues.

What happens at a christening?

The service, step by step

1

The welcome

The priest meets Sasho and his godparents at the door — he is carried in like the small king he believes he is.

2

The water

Three gentle dips in warm water — the moment he officially becomes Alexander. Applause welcome, cheering encouraged.

3

The white clothes

His godparents dress him in white from head to toe, with a little gold cross to grow into.

4

The candles

One big candle, three circles around the font, and the bells of the chapel doing the announcing.

The baptism service takes about forty minutes. Come at 10:15 — Sasho's naps are non-negotiable and the schedule bends around them.

His godparents

Ralitsa Stoyanova

Godmother

Kaloyan Stoyanov

Godfather

They'll carry Sasho through the whole service, dress him in white, and hold the title of favourite non-parent adults for life. No pressure, Ralitsa and Kaloyan.

What to wear

Sky colours — soft blues, whites and sunshine

Comfortable and cheerful beats formal. There will be a lawn, small children and at least one bubble machine, so dress accordingly.

Gifts are truly not needed — but if you'd like, Sasho is collecting picture books and (according to his father) index funds. A book with a note in the cover wins every time.

Parents ask us

Good to know

Can we bring our kids?
Please do — this is a party for children first. Kids' corner, minder, bubbles, cloud cake. The adults are technically guests at their event.
What do people bring to a christening?
A hug and a wish for Sasho. Traditionalists bring a small gold coin or a book; we'll treasure either, but neither is expected.
Photos in the chapel?
Before and after the service, freely. During the sacrament our photographer quietly covers it all.
Where do we park?
The chapel has no lot — use the Doctor's Garden underground parking, five minutes on foot. The restaurant has its own parking.
Will it be outdoors?
The terrace is covered and heated, so October can do its worst. The bubbles work in all weather.
