Midsummer light, a meadow full of flowers, and a table that never seems to end.

Hur det började

Our story

2019

The ferry

Three hours from Nynäshamn to Visby, one shared table in the cafeteria, and a card game Freya absolutely did not let Anders win.

2022

The cabin

We bought a leaning wooden cabin near Klintehamn and spent two summers making it lean slightly less. It's where everything good happens.

2026

Midsommar

Around the maypole with wildflowers in our hair, Anders asked between two verses of 'Små grodorna'. Everyone heard. Everyone cried.

2027

The meadow

Same island, same light, one more midsummer — this time with a promise in the middle of it.

A ceremony in the open meadow, flower crowns welcome. Hay-bale seating — the good kind of informal.

Getting to Gotland

Ferry from Nynäshamn or Oskarshamn to Visby (book ahead — it's midsummer week), or fly to Visby airport. The farm is forty minutes south of Visby.

Bikes

Gotland is best by bicycle. We've reserved twenty at Visby Cykeluthyrning under the wedding name — the coast ride down is the prettiest hour of your summer.

Getting home

A bus back to Visby leaves the farm at 1:00 and 3:00. Or stay in the field and have breakfast with us — honestly the better plan.

Where to stay

Klinte Strandhotell

Rooms held under 'Freya & Anders' until May 20 — ten minutes from the farm along the coast road.

Where to stay

Camping & cabins at Ängsholmen

Pitch a tent in our lower field or take one of six farm cabins — first come, first snug. Breakfast included, sunrise unavoidable.

What to wear

Dress code

Summer festive — light, floral, easy

Think linen, cotton, flowers in your hair if you're willing. Flat shoes or block heels for the meadow. The light lasts all night but bring a jumper for the small hours.

No dress police on the island — just skip white so Freya stands out in it.

Presents? You crossed a sea for us — that's the present. If you'd like to bring something anyway, our little cabin dreams of a proper sauna; there'll be a jar for it next to the cake.

Good to know

Questions, answered

What is midsummer, exactly?
Sweden's brightest festival — flowers, dancing around a maypole, pickled herring you may politely decline, and daylight that simply doesn't stop.
Can I bring a plus-one?
If your invitation says two seats, yes! The long table always has room for one more chair, but we do need to know by May 9.
Are children welcome?
The more the merrier — the farm has lambs, a swing tree and other children. Bring them all.
Will there be herring?
Yes, and also many things that are not herring. The menu leans garden-first with meat and fish from the island.
Does it get dark?
Not really. Sunset is around 22:00 and the sky just dims politely for a few hours. Pack an eye mask if you plan to sleep, which we don't recommend.
